A bath tap is an essential accessory of your bathroom. It not only performs a vital function of controlling flow of water, but also adds to the beauty of your bathroom. Thus, it is important to choose the most appropriate bath tap, which should match both your convenience (for instance, whether you want single lever or double lever) and also the style of your house and bathroom. The suitability of a particular tap also depends on the size of your bathroom. Bath taps alone can change the complete look of your bathroom.
There are basically two types of bathroom taps:
1. Traditional Bathroom Taps are mainly found in cottages and period homes. They are recommended for a minimum operating pressure of 0.5 bar.
2. Contemporary Bathroom Taps are common in modern homes and apartments. An exclusive shaped spout defines contemporary taps.
She had thought the studio would keep itself;
no dust upon the furniture of love.
Half heresy, to wish the taps less vocal,
the panes relieved of grime.
—Adrienne Rich (b. 1929)
There are mainly three types of Bathroom Tap Materials
1. Stainless Steel is a popular material used mainly for contemporary bathroom taps. It is long lasting, easy to clean and rust free.
2. Chrome bathroom taps are more shiny and silver as compared to stainless steel taps. They are cheaper than stainless steel taps, easy to clean and long lasting.
3. Brass bathroom taps are made of a single metal, unlike stainless steel and chrome taps (they are alloys). They replicate gold and thus, expensive, but unique in looks. However, being susceptible to rust, they need special care.
Bathroom taps fall into a few main categories:
Freud makes much of the distinction between jokes which just barely make sense, and those whose main value lies in the sense they make. He calls the first kind jests, and thinks them radically distinct from wit. In jests our motive is the mere pleasure that children have in talking nonsense, a pleasure that he thinks is not of itself comic. The fact that our nonsense does just barely, in another sense, make sense, serves only to appease our critical judgment and release us from our adult task of inhibiting these childish proclivities. The energy which we had been employing in this task, however, being thus liberated, not only greatly increases our pleasure in the nonsense, but, in some manner which Freud does not even try to explain, makes it a comic pleasure. When, however, besides barely making sense, a piece of nonsense actually says a mouthful on some subject of current interest, or taps our deeper reservoirs of sexual and aggressive passion, then the pleasure is still greaterand still more comic, I supposeand the jest is properly called wit.

1. Standard taps are supplied in pairs for two tap hole baths. They are available in modern as well as traditional styles. They are most commonly used.
2. Bath fillers and bath shower mixers are also available as bathroom taps, which fit a standard two tap hole bath. Bath Filler taps are an alternative to a Pair of Standard Bath Taps. They are available in a variety of designs. Bath fillers are becoming very popular as they allow the water to mix in the tap body itself, which provides a better temperature control. Bath shower mixers are compatible with two tap-hole baths. They are available in a variety of styles, and offer the flexibility of bath filling and showering in the bath.
3. Three or four tap hole bath fittings are also available is a variety of styles. In three tap hole fitting, there are two handles, one controls the hot water and other, the cold water supply, and the third hole is for the water spout. In case of the four tap hole fitting there is also a shower head on a retractable hose. These taps can create a very striking effect and they allow the mixing of both hot and cold water for the ideal bath water temperature, thereby giving a better temperature control. However, they are fairly difficult to fit and can be expensive.
Bathroom taps should be cleaned only with warm soapy water and rinsed after-wards and later polished with a soft cloth is required. A bath tap is an essential accessory of your bathroom.
